I am so... ready for a new year. A fresh start. Out with the old and in with the new. lol I plan to get rid of anything negative in my life this year. I want to surround myself with positive things and people. I want to spend more quality time with my boys and teach them that no matter what life throws your way, you can endure and make something positive out of it. I love where I am in life right now. I hope things only get better. I have made some mistakes in 2008 and boy did I learn from them. I want to thank the people that are close to me right now. The friends that have always been there for me. I hope you know how much you mean to me. To the one I adore, I will always wait on you.....

Things are great right now. I love my new job. I am really enjoying life. Zack turned 15 today. I am feeling old. He went to the Christmas dance last night. ( I will post pics later). He loved it. He and I went to our great friends (Jason and Jennifer) daughter's birthday party yesterday. We had a good time. Happy Birthday Kylie. I am taking things slow and enjoying each day. I went to Atlanta last night, so I am pretty tired. I am going to post more when I get my internet at my new place hooked up. We are looking forward to Christmas and the boys are excited about Christmas break. Zack plans on getting his learner's permit this week. So watch out on the road! Have a great week!

I have made several changes in my life in the past few weeks. I have moved to town in an apartment. I love it. I may miss my house one day ,but for now I need a change of scenery. I have a new job that I will be starting on Monday at Security Finance and I am really excited about that. I will miss subbing ,but again I need to make changes and become more independent. I am so excited about this new chapter in my life. I never imagined that I would be in this place in life and be this happy again. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

1. I am a smeller. I smell everything. I smell my food, clothes, etc. I cannot eat or wear anything unless I smell it first.

2. I have a crush on someone. I think that's weird since I am 32 years old. But I do.

3. I buy everything in 3s. 3 can foods, bags of chips, etc.

4. I hate to put laundry up. I will wash it, dry it, fold it ,but I hate putting it away.

5. I cannot have dirty dishes in the sink. Not a cup or dish. I must wash it.

6. I hate to leave my house without making up my bed or vacuuming. I feel better when I come home if my house is clean.

7. I must clean every sink after washing my hands. In restaurants or at school, I always wipe of the sink and faucet.

Thanks for the wonderful comments that so many people have left me. You are all so right. I have ALWAYS lived for everyone else in my life. I tried to please my mom and step dad as a child and I tried to please my husband and children as an adult. I often forgot about me. I believe now is the time I need to live for me a little. I will always be the nurturing person that I am, but I am going to think of myself a little more and try to do what makes ME happy. I don't want to always sound so negative in my posts. I hope it doesn't come across as that. For every bad thing that happens, there is usually 3 great things that happen, also. David and I are communicating better than we have in a very long time. I hope to always have this openness for the boys. This has been a learning experience. I now know what I am willing to "put up" with and I will not waste another day being unhappy. He and I are both happy now and I believe that makes us better parents. Pray that we will do what is best for the boys and only bring out the best in each other from this point on.

Roller Coaster...

I feel as if I am on a roller coaster. Up and down. Up and down. One day is terrible and the next day is great. Yesterday turned out to be a good day for the boys and I. After work, the boys went to Murfreesboro to Go USA funpark. ( Thanks Jason and Shane). It was a guys night out. The boys had a blast. My great friend, Jennifer and I went to Manchester rec center and worked out. I have been walking everyday. We enjoyed our little break. I have made a promise to myself to work out everyday and I am feeling great. I am thankful for the wonderful friends I have made. They help to keep the boys and I busy. The boys are going for an over night visit with their dad Saturday night and are looking forward to it. I am going to go out with friends. I will miss them, but I know they need to spend time with their dad. We are taking this one day at a time and I feel that things will work out for all of us. Have a great weekend!

Just when I thought things were looking up our new puppy, Lil Bit dies. She got sick on Tuesday and I took her to the vet first thing Wednesday morning, but she still died yesterday afternoon. (Thanks Jason for burying her with Michael. You were a lifesaver). I also got my feelings hurt this week, but what doesn't kill you will make you stronger, right? I sure hope so. I'm sure God has a plan for me, I just don't understand what that may be right now. I know that I haven't done anything so bad to deserve all of the bad things that have been happening to me lately. Things are bound to turn around soon. I am going to remain positive and takes things day by day.

Halloween 2008...

Halloween was a blast. The boys and I had a GREAT time. I have such good friends now and I want them to know that I love them and appreciate them for being there for me. Being a single mom is strange. I was married at 17, so I kind of feel like I'm 17 again. The only difference is I have children now. I hope I am doing the right things for them. That's what I worry alot about these days. I feel as if good things are coming into my life. I hope I'm not wrong. I am going to take it one day at a time and enjoy each moment.

Things went better than I could have imagined in court yesterday. Now I am looking forward to Halloween and the weekend. The kids and I are planning to have a great Halloween with friends. Division....

I really never liked division when I was in school and I sure don't now. Who gets this? Who gets that? Which holiday do you want the children? Odd or even years? Every or every other weekend? My head hurts from even thinking about all of it. It took me a week to fill out my proposed parenting plan. Who would have thought that we would ever have to do this? The courts get to decide our lives for us. I feel as if I have no say in my life anymore. I didn't want any of this! When you are emotional, you shouldn't have to make decisions that will affect you and your children forever. But how long should a person wait to have some closure to this disaster? I now just want it over with. As crazy as that may sound, I feel as though I need to get on with my life. Sometimes things don't happen the way you plan or want them to ,but you have to make the best of it and I'm trying. I just take it day by day. I know that I'm not always going to do or say the right thing, but I have tried to do the right thing for 15 years and look where I am today. I hope that I don't make too many mistakes or embarrass my children. I feel as though I am entitled to screw up every now and then though. Wednesday is going to be a rough day. Please continue to pray for me and my family. I hope everyone has a great week.

Divorce...

I do not find it a coincidence that death and divorce start with the same letter. I feel as though part of myself has died. For those of you who do not know, I am going through a divorce. I have been married for the last 15 years of my life. This is something I would not wish on anyone, especially those with children. I hope that this is the hardest thing I will ever have to go through in my life, because I don't believe I could endure anything like this again. It is a pain that will not go away. A month ago, I truly believed that I would die. Honestly. But thank God that I have my boys to help pull me through this because they are what has kept me going. I knew that I had to get up everyday and take care of them or I would have layed in the bed wishing for death. Things are starting to look up though and I have my friends and family to thank for helping me make it through this trying time. Divorce is not what I chose but it is happening. I have done everything I possibly can to save my marriage, but nothing has worked. So I walk away with a clear conscience knowing that I tried with all my heart and soul. I only hope to do what is right for my children and make this as easy as I can on them. My attorney told me the other day that people believe marriage changes everything. She said that isn't so. Divorce changes everything. I am terrified of this new change. I have never been alone in my life. I went from my parents house to being married. Although my husband drives a truck over the road, I always knew he was coming home. Now I am alone. I know this sounds crazy, because I have my boys, but I feel so alone. So please pray for me that I will do what is right for my children and make decisions in their best interests. Pray for my children during this difficult time. Also, pray for my husband. I only want what is best for him, too. I hope we both always do what is right for the boys and put them before anything else.

I am really happy right now. A month ago, I would have never thought I would be saying this. Good things are coming into my life (or so I hope). The boys and I are settling into a new routine. We are on fall break, so we are going to get some much needed rest and maybe have a little fun. I plan to just spend time with my friends and family this week and maybe do a little cleaning around the house. I have let things go a bit, so now is a good time to play catch up. I am back from hell. That is the only way I can describe what has been going on in my life these past few weeks. But now I am back and feeling much better with each passing day. For those of you who do not know what has been going on in my life ( and really want to know because you care), feel free to ask when you see me or call me. For those of you are are nosey and want to ASSume what it is, feel free to make whatever ASSumptions you may. I will give more details later when I am in a more comfortable place in my life to be totally open. I have tried to maintain as close to normal life for my boys as possible. We have been going to football games, we worked on the Freshman float for homecoming, and went to the Autumn Street Fair this past Saturday. I love these cool fall days and I'm looking forward to the activities that go on this time of year. Our school is getting ready for our annual fall festival. We love Halloween, so we are looking forward to that also. Next week is fall break and the boys are excited about that. My dad and step mom are coming to visit from Sevierville next week and I am looking forward to spending time with them. I am in a much better place here lately and I want to thank my friends, family and coworkers for all of your support during this extremely difficult time in my life. I cannot thank you all enough. I hope that I am as good a friend to you all as you have been to me. Please continue to pray for me and my family.

The JV football team won against Cookeville Thursday night 16 to 14. The varsity team also won against Shelbyville Friday night. Way to go boys! Good luck Varsity team Friday night against Franklin County (away) . JV doesn't have another game until September 15th.

So much has been going on lately. Zack has started the high school. I am subbing at Michael's school quite a bit. Zack is playing Freshman football so he is really busy with that. He had his first game Thursday night and it was alot of fun even though they lost. He got to play and loves it. He went to support the Varsity team on Friday night in Dekalb Co. He loves the high school. I am glad he likes it. I was so worried about him but he has adjusted well. Michael is in the 5th grade and he likes it. His ball team won 1st in season and tournament. I am so proud of the young men they are becoming. I plan to blog more now that we are getting in a routine. I hope everyone has a great week.

Our 4th of July Holiday...

How did you spend your 4th? Our family did several things. We went to the river under Frank G. Clement bridge. The boys played in the water a bit. While we were there, the bicentennial train came over the bridge. It was so cool. We also cooked out. Zack went to Morrison to watch the fireworks. While he was gone, Michael and I shot fireworks when it became dark outside. Afterwards, we picked Zack and his friend up and they came home and shot more fireworks. I had to make them come in because it was getting late. We really enjoyed our day. I hope you and your family had a wonderful 4th.

Yard Sale...

While my friends are at the beach, I am having a yard sale. Yard sales are soooooooo much work. I may need a vacation afterwards! The yard sale will be held at my sis-in-law's house, located at 499 Pike Hill Road in Mcminnville. I will be having it on Wednesday (2nd) and Thursday (3rd) starting at 7 a.m.. I may have it on Friday, but since it is going to be the 4th, I am not sure if I will or not. Come by and check it out.

These pictures are really late. They are of Zack's 8th grade graduation. I keep promising myself (and others) that I am going to post. I don't get my turn on the computer very often with the kids being out of school. We are having a good summer. We have been swimming and going to ball games alot. I may have a yard sale in the next few weeks, but for now we are just taking it easy.

May 9th... Michael is 10 years old today. How times flies by. It seems just like only yesterday he was born. We will be celebrating Friday tonight at the Viola Community Center and next Thursday we will be having our 8th grade graduation after- party there also. This makes me really sad. My boys are growing up so fast. Zack will be at the high school next year and Michael will be in 5th grade. It seems as though I blinked and they were grown. I am grateful that they are happy and healthy. We have a family member who is only 15 and just found out he has a tumor on his brain. He is in Vanderbilt hospital and will be having surgery Friday to remove it. Please remember Kane Fuqua in your prayers.

I Want A Wife...

Tonight as I pack, wash clothes, wash my car, take out the trash, make arrangements for the dogs, and fix the boys something to eat. I realize that I would like to have a wife (or at least a clone of myself). Maybe then I could get all of the things done that need to be done. I remember reading this poem a few years ago when I was at Motlow. Oh how true it is.

According to the dictionary, a wife is a "woman married to a man." But, as many women know, a wife is much more: coo, housekeeper, nutritionist, chauffeur, friend, sex partner, valet, nurse, social secretary, ego-builder, and more. Rather than complains why she herself would like to have a wife.
I belong to that classification of people known as wives. I am a Wife. And, not altogether incidentally, I am a mother.
Not too long ago a male friend of mine appeared on the scene from the Midwest fresh from a recent divorce. He had one child, who is, of course, with his ex-wife. He is obviously looking for another wife. As I thought about him while I was ironing one evening, it suddenly occurred to me that I, too, would like to have a wife. Why do I want a wife?
I would like to go back to school, so that I can become economically independent, support myself, and, if need be, support those dependent upon me. I want a wife who will work and send me to school. And while I am going to school I want a wife to take care of my children. I want a wife to keep track of the children's doctor and dentist appointments. And to keep track of mine, too. I want a wife to make sure my children eat properly and are kept clean. I want a wife who will wash the children's clothes and keep them mended. I want a wife who is a good nutrient attendant to my children, arranges for their schooling, makes sure that they adequate social life with their peers, takes them to the park, the zoo, etc. I want a wife who takes care of the children when they are sick, a wife who arranges to be around when the children need special care, because, of course, I cannot miss classes at school. My wife must arrange to lose time at work and not lose the job. It may mean a small cut in my wife's income from time to time, but I guess I can tolerate that. Needless to say, my wife will arrange and pay for the care of the children while my wife is working.
I want a wife who will take care of my physical needs. I want a wife who will keep my house clean. A wife who will pick up after my children, a wife who will pick up after me. I want a wife who will keep my clothes clean, ironed, mended, replaced when need be, and who will see to it that my personal things are kept in their proper place so that I can find what I need the minute I need it. I want a wife who cooks the meals, a wife who is a good cook. I want a wife who will plan the menus, do the necessary grocery shopping, prepare the meals, serve them pleasantly, and then do the cleaning up while I do my studying. I want a wife who will care for me when I am sick and sympathize with my pain and loss of time from school. I want a wife to go along when our family takes a vacation so that someone can continue to care for me and my children when I need a rest and a change of scene.
I want a wife who will take care of details of my social life. When my wife and I are invited out by my friends, I want a wife who will take care of the babysitting arrangements. When I meet people at school that I like and want to certain, I want a wife who will have the house clean, will prepare a special meal, serve it to me and my friends, and not interrupt when I talk about the things that interest me and my friends. I want a wife who will have arranged that the children are fed and ready for bed before my guests arrive so that the children do not bother us. I want a wife who takes care of the needs of my guests so that they feel comfortable, who makes sure that they have an ashtray, that they are passed the hors d'ovours, that they helping of the food, that their wine glasses are replenished when necessary, that their coffee is served to them as they like it. And I want a wife who knows that sometimes I need a night out by myself.
I want a wife who is sensitive to my sexual needs, a wife who makes love passionately and eagerly when I feel like it, a wife who makes sure that I am satisfied. And, of course, I want a wife who will not demand sexual attention when I am not in the mood for it. I want a wife who assumes the complete responsibility for birth control, because I do not want more children. I want a wife who will remain sexually faithful to me so that I do not have to clutter up my intellectual life with jealousies. And I want a wife who understands that my sexual needs may entail more than strict adherence to monogamy. I must, after all, be able to relate to people as fully as possible.
If, by chance, I find another person more suitable as a wife than the wife I already have, I want the liberty to replace my present wife with another one. Naturally, I will expect a fresh, new life; my wife will take the children and be solely responsible for them so that I am left free.
When I am through with school and have acquired a job, I want my wife to quit working and remain at home so that my wife can more fully and completely take care of a wife's duties.

Lots of things have been going on. Our Spring Fling dance was a success. My birthday was on the 14th. Beta induction was last Thursday. Our 8th grade is going on our end of the year trip to Pigeon Forge tomorrow and Friday. We are excited. Michael gets to go, too. I am coaching a Jr. league team in Morrison for Ben Lomand with lots of help from my mother-in-law, Brenda. Michael is playing for Creative Paradise's coach pitch team. David is on the road as usual. We have all been busy. I am really looking forward to summer break.

We have been really busy around here. The boys have both started practice for softball and I am coaching Zack's team this year. What was I thinking? Another incident of not being able to say No. My mother-in-law is going to help me, so I think we will have a lot of fun. Our Beta club parents are sponsoring a Spring Fling Dance this Saturday night at the Viola Community Center. I have been busy planning for that. Last Saturday the boys and I went to the Warren County Bicentennial pageant held at the mall. Above is a picture of my girls. Kaylyn is on the left. She is my friend, Monica's daughter. I am still kicking and thankfully not that sick with Mono. If this cough will go away, I will actually feel good . Zack is staying on home bound until the 24th. He is bummed out about that and I was starting to feel that he was really missing out, until I came across this quote. He is learning everyday (hopefully). I worry that when he goes back, a lot will have changed and he will have a hard time adjusting. It will be like going back to school after being out for the summer. Michael still hasn't gotten sick, only the rash he had a couple weeks ago. I am so thankful for that. He made second honor roll (2 Bs and the rest As) and I am so proud of him. I wish the weather would stay warm. I am so ready for Spring.

Some people use their blog as therapy. Well I am going to use mine to vent my frustration. As you know by previous posts, Zackary and I have Mono. Let me make this clear, I am NOT sick with Mono. I have bronchitis and that is how I found out I have Mono. Had my glands not been swollen, I probably would not even have known that I have it and neither would anybody else. It has come to my attention that Zack and I are considered lepers. I did not work any last week because I did not feel well and so that I would not spread this "disease" that we have. My doctor told me to take Thursday and Friday off and I can go back Monday. Well I will not be going back because some "people" and I use that word, instead of what I really want to say, are afraid that we (Zack and I) are going to cause some Mono outbreak at school. It was not a problem for me to be at school everyday working before. That is, before I got diagnosed. Who knows how long I have had it or who else has it, and is not sick. Like I said if I didn't have a cough and have bronchitis every year, I would have been working on Thursday and Friday. I have probably had Mono for a while because it didn't take long before my test showed up positive. I do not drink after anyone, and I don't kiss anyone at school either. Anybody that truly knows me, knows that I wouldn't knowingly get anyone sick. I love subbing and getting to work with kids. I guess some people are not happy unless they are causing trouble for others.

I haven't been feeling good for the last couple of days. I assumed it was just a cold or my nerves over David's job change. I have been coughing at night and feeling kinda tired. No big deal, right?Well this morning on my way to take Michael to school, I notice this rash around his eyes. He goes on to tell me that he has it on his neck, belly, legs, arms, and hand. So I turn back around and head home to put on some clothes. I had worn my p.j.s because I planned to go back home and sleep. I called our pediatrician because Zack already had an appointment today at 1. But they were unable to see Michael today. So off we go to my dr. I thought well since I am here, I will see her and get something for this cough. She looks Michael over and says that it is probably poison oak or ivy. She wants to give him a shot. He immediately breaks down in tears. We decided he would just take some medicine. She looks at my throat and ears, and then she feels my glands on my neck. She looks at me with a puzzled look on her face and asks me if Zack has Mono. My husband had gone to see her last week and evidently had told her about Zack. I respond with yes and she says I think you may have it too. WHAT???? NO!!!!!! I do not have the time or patience to deal with this Mono virus the way Zack has had to. She sticks my finger and in less than 2 minutes, she comes back in and says it's POSITIVE. Michael cracks up and calls me Mono Woman and swears he's never giving me a kiss again. So here Zack and I sit with Mono. Mono boy and Mono woman, I guess. I hope that I recover much faster than Zack has.

Update on Zack: Dr. Purvis tells us today that Zack' spleen is really sick and he should stay out of school until after spring break. He is so mad. Pray that we both kick this Mono critter fast.

Change...

Change really scares me. Well we came to the decision that David needs to change jobs. He has been with the company he is with for 2 years. He has worked for them before, when he first started truck driving. As everyone in Mcminnville knows, the economy is awful here and the company he is with is making changes. They are trying to save money anywhere they can, but aren't we all. We have thought long and hard about him changing jobs and we decided that he should. Sometimes you just have to take a chance and see what happens. The truck he will be operating is really nice. He will get to be in more controll of when and where he goes. I hope we made the right decision. Ever since David's illness, I have been nervous when he left out. With this new job if he is not feeling well, he can stay home. I pray that God always keeps David safe.

I have been a really bad blogger lately. Alot has been going on. I have been working alot here lately. I have enjoyed our winter break. Zack is still battleing Mono. He had to have an ultrasound, due to his swollen spleen last week, and more blood work. The results were o.k. so we will repeat them on the 25th ,and if he is feeling well and his blood work is better, he may be able to go back to school. The child has been to school 3 and a half days since Christmas break. He hates missing school. It is messing up his social life. It amazes me that Michael and I don't have it. I hope when we go back to school on Tuesday that everyone is better. So many illnessess have been going around at our school. Our family is considering make a few changes, buying the house we live in is one. I am comfortable in this decision. Please pray that we make the right choices and that it will affect our family in a positive way. Change scares me. I plan to post some new pics soon. Don't give up on me, I promise to be a better blogger.

We have had a busy year so far. Zack has been sick since before Christmas. After a couple trips to the doctor, we now know that he has mono. He has been placed on home bound. His 8th grade night for basketball is Thursday. He is really upset that he is not going to get to play. Please pray that he recovers soon (and that the rest of us don't catch it).

As I reflect on the last year, I am in awe that I didn't loose my mind. In 2007, we moved, David survived a terrible health crisis, (no, I moved while David had his health crisis), and let's just say Zack's 8th grade year has not been what I expected. I haven't had time to get all sappy sad because I have been busy just trying to get him through it all. I just hope and pray that Michael continues to be the easy child. Well I survived Christmas. The tree and all the decorations are packed up. My carpets are clean. (Thanks David) The car is waxed. (Thanks again David) My husband is not used to being home for more than a couple of days, so he is bored out of his mind. He is wearing me out. He has even painted the shutters. This is supposed to be a break! He goes back out on the 2nd, so that means I will have 5 days to rest before school starts back.

Zack's birthday party went really good. He invited some of his friends over for pizza and cake. They had a blast. We have been busy at school lately. Friday, our drama club performed a Christmas play at school. On Monday, our 7th and 8th grade b-ball team played a day game against Eastside. The girls won. Our boys lost, but Zack scored 4 points and our team played really hard. He and Michael are looking forward to Christmas break from school. Zack went on a field trip to see Enchanted today and Michael's class made ornaments and Christmas decorations. Tomorrow is their class parties and then they are out for 2 weeks. We plan to hang out out at home and relax. I hope you find rest and relaxation during this holiday season.

What a wonderful weekend! The Flanagan's have a had a really good weekend. David and I are almost done shopping for the boys. I have to make him stop or he would keep buying for them. We had to make a trip to Murfreesboro both Friday and Saturday night. David's cell phone was broken, so we went to Verizon to get it fixed. They gave him a new one, but on Saturday morning when he went to use it, it was frozen and wouldn't do anything. We turned it off and then it wouldn't come on or anything. So on Saturday night, I was not happy to have to go back, but we did. You will never believe what happened. They put someone else's contacts on David's phone. It took about 2 and a half hours to get it straightened out. I was so frustrated! By the time it was fixed, the manager told him he could pick out any phone in the store (except for the new Venus and Voyager). He was just ready to go and just kept the phone they have given him. I personally thought he should have picked out a really nice one for all of our trouble. But he is satisfied with the one he has, so we won't be greedy. We got to go to Toy R Us and get a few things anyway, so it worked out. Zack got contacts on Saturday and loves that he now has peripheral vision. Michael is just excited about the presents under our tree. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at my home. Some good did come out of my illness, I was able to get my tree and all of my Christmas decorations out. We have been collecting these Christmas villages for years now. I do not have enough room to display them all. Hopefully, one day, I will have a big house to proudly display them all, but until them I will just put out our favorites. Michael loves to help decorate for the holidays, so I let him place them where he wanted them. Zackary could probably care less. I hope that they remember all of our holiday traditions and all of those Christmas houses, paper ornaments or figurines they painted at school that must be proudly displayed every year.

Beta Convention 2007...

We had a good time at Beta convention. I don't think I have ever walk as much as I did those two days. We were back and forth between Opry Mills and Opryland Hotel. Zack had to attend several meetings. During one of those meetings, Michael and I took a boat ride inside the hotel. We shopped a little. Our Morrison Beta club did not win with their performance of Hairspray, but they did a wonderful job. We were all worn out when we got back home and wouldn't you know it I woke up Wednesday morning sick. I toughened it out during Thanksgiving, but I had to go to the doctor yesterday and was given the great news that I have pneumonia : (

What a weekend! I have been cleaning my house for Thanksgiving, so that I don't have to do it when I get back. I have already gotten all of my items for Thanksgiving dinner bought. Lots has been going on. Basketball, Beta,Fall Festival, Thanksgiving, work, and home. I guess I should start where I last left off. Our 8th grade fundraiser (hay ride) was a success. Thanks to all who helped. Our Fall Festival at Morrison was awesome. Our school raised $14,000.00. The Beta performed "Hairspray" and did a great job. Zackary was his 8th grade class king. He is the one in the suit with his hands in his pockets. I have lots of pics, but I my camera isn't cooperating with my computer. I'll get them on here soon. We are leaving for Beta convention on Monday. Zackary is entering in the math and beaded jewelry competitions. Yes, I know, I was surprised when he signed up for beaded jewelry, too. I will let you know how that goes. I am excited to see the talent competition and see how well we do. As you know from an earlier post, Zack is Link Larkin. They have all worked really hard on this and I wish them luck. Michael and I are going with Zack. We are all excited!

Michael has a new baby, a kitten. He found a kitten on the side of the road last week and I am sad to say it died Monday. So he was all upset last night and this morning. Today I took him to the pet store to get another one. There were 3 white ones and a black one. The lady at the pet shop told us a story about the black kitten.Today it had ridden all the way back from Murfreesboro under someone's car hood. So naturally, that it the one my tender-hearted son wanted. He wants to name it "Spook" since he got it so close to Halloween.

I am so proud of both of my sons. They both made the second honor roll this six weeks despite the move and their dad being sick. Michael has really made great strides the last couple of years and Zackary has learned that if he will just turn in his work, he can make good grades. It has taken a couple of years, but I am glad he has finally gotten it before he goes to high school. The child does not even have to try that hard. He is really smart. We got the results from last years TCAP and Zackary was advanced in all subjects. Michael is smart too, but he has to work for his grades like I did. We earn every grade we get. It doesn't come as easy for us as it does Zack. Keep up the great work! Your dad and I are very proud of both of you.

I am so happy that my life is back to normal (well as normal as my life can be). I am back to work and so is my husband. I am unpacked and enjoying the "exciting" life in Viola. I miss the convenience of town (Wal*mart). We are getting ready for basketball season to start up and Beta convention. Zack is going to be Link in the musical Hairspray. Our Beta club is performing it for convention and fall festival at Morrison. I had a few days off this week so I made my boys cupcakes to celebrate Fall. I love this time of year with the leaves changing colors and the weather cooling off. I can't wait for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

What a couple of weeks that my family has had!!!!! I guess you know from my last post that we are moving from Mcminnville to Viola. My husband got really sick in Virginia(he is a truck driver) and was hospitalized. After receiving 7 pints of blood and having an ulcer cauterized, they sent him on his way. His way, mind you, is 10 hours from Mcminnville. He got home around 3 p.m. on Thursday (August ). He literally fell out of his semi. I panicked and begged him to let me take him to Riverpark Hospital but he wanted to see our new house. When we got home it wasn't long before he agreed to go because he was in so much pain. I have never been seen so fast at Riverpark as he was that night. I can't imagine the look on my face when I ran in there. David was sooooo pale and weak that he almost fell out of the wheel chair. ***** Special thanks to Shawna Wiley**** who took charge and knew just what to do. David was in shock from lose of blood and she went into action fast. We spent Thur. and Fri. in Riverpark and he received 4 more pints of blood(11 total) and was seen by a surgeon who hoped that maybe Virginia hospital did not give him enough blood. But on Saturday morning (about 6 a.m.) our nurse informed us his hemoglobin was 17 and they were moving him to ICU. I FREAKED out. How could his blood count be lower when they were putting blood into him? I knew he must be loosing blood fast from somewhere. I asked that he be moved to Nashville, just because they are bigger and have more doctors. By 9:30 a.m. we were in St. Thomas Hospital. Around 11 a.m. we were waiting on a gastrologist and surgeon to run the scope and see where the blood was coming from. A respiratory therapist was in our room because David had become dependant on oxygen at Riverpark. I look down at David and knew something wasn't right. The nurses immediately went into action and rushed him to ICU. Me and David's family sat in the waiting room waiting to hear what was going on. I can honestly say that was the scariest moment in my life. The gastrologist ran the scope and discovered that an aneurysm has burst in his stomach (probably in the room when we got to St. Thomas. (Thank God! ) and he had a weak spot in his stomach that was seeping blood and he required immediate surgery. He was hemorrhaging by then. They let me go in and speak to him for a minute before he was taken to surgery. Whew what an emotional wreck I was. But I was trying to be strong because I knew he was scared to death. He had 3 surgeons, a cardiologist, a gastrologist and 3 other surgeons go in with him. He was in surgery for about 3 hours. Periodically the surgical nurse would call and let us know how he was doing but when the surgeon called and said that the bleeding was stopped, what a relief. Not only did he had the aneurysm, the weak spot (that they patched), he also had a small tear, and another bleeding ulcer. I can only imagine his hemoglobin level when they took him back for surgery. During surgery he received 4 more pints for a total of 17 pints (in a week). It amazes me that he made it home from his trip. I believe God wanted him home with his family and must have given him the strength to make it home. He has a big scar from his chest to his waist line but he's not bleeding anymore and gaining strength. He got out this past Thursday and we go back tomorrow to have his 33 staples taken out and to have his blood checked again. I am sure that everything is ok. We have gotten unpacked and are enjoying our new place, FINALLY. Thanks for all of the prayers!!!!!

Please pray for us. I am in the process of moving. My husband and kids have always wanted to live in Viola (for some reason?). So last Saturday we took our oldest son, Zackary, to Viola Homecoming to meet his friend and low and behold this house my husband looked at a while back was for rent. Remember I said last Saturday. We looked at it that afternoon and signed a lease on Monday night. I started packing on Tuesday. I worked Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile I packed a little every night. Well my husband insisted that we be in this weekend. Mind you he has been on the road since Tuesday morning. That's not the worst of it. Movings bad, but the story gets much worse. On his way home from Brooklyn, N.Y. he gets sick. He made it just outside of D.C. (barely into Virginia) before he could not drive anymore. I told him to get something to eat and go to bed. Well he did and woke up this morning worse. He toughened it out until about 5 p.m. this evening before he agreed to let me call Highway Patrol to help him get to the hospital. When the Va. Highway patrolman got to him, he immediately called an ambulance. I just talked to him and they are giving him a blood transfusion. So please keep my hubby in your prayers. I am waiting to hear back from the hospital, after they give him the transfusion and they know more about what is wrong, before I may have to make my way (900 miles) to Virginia.
